Hosting club

Portsmouth Sailing Club are the hosting the Worlds, the club was founded in 1920 and local artist W. L. Wyllie, famed for his maritime paintings and etchings was amongst the founding members. The clubhouse, a Grade 2 listed building, was probably constructed in the early 1800s and many of the timber beams visible inside are from ships broken up at that time. Previously serving as a Consulate to thirteen different nations and somewhat less illustriously as a French onion store this wonderful building now lies at the heart of a vibrant and active club membership. The club is managed by its members for the members; this creates a friendly atmosphere and strong community spirit that supports a varied social programme and extremely accessible range of activities on the water.

Hornet Services Sailing Club is the home club to most of the Tempest on the south coast and will where the tempest will be moored for Worlds. The club was formed in 1964 as Naval Yacht Club be formed for serving and retired naval personnel. In April 2013, in recognition of the increasing part the Club was now playing in support of service off-shore sailing, a decisive vote was made by members at the AGM, to amend the name of the club to Hornet Services Sailing Club (HSSC). This reflected amendments to the Club’s Constitution that opened up membership to personnel from all three of the Armed Forces, their veterans and families.

Registration & Notice of race

You can now enter, you will have to go to the Portsmouth Sailing Club website Instructions for entering : Firstly you will need to create a user by going to the following this link Then you enter the worlds by going to following this link  With regards to the Tickets within the £400 entry fee this includes the skippers and crew meals for the Curry and Class Meal at Hornet, so additional tickets are only needed for other guests for these two socials, currently we have restricted it to 2 additional tickets per booking for the Curry, Portsmouth Sailing Club only has capacity for 90 in total. With regards to the Paella there was a mistake made when setting this up and we had limited it to two tickets but it has just raised this limit to four tickets per a person, so you should now be able to book an additional two Paella tickets now. Meal tickets and VHF are added as separate items and can be done at entry or later but this would create a separate invoice. You can view the invoices by logging onto the website and clicking “Portal” on the top right, there is a section called “My Invoices” the invoices have the payment details on.
